Just got this lovely email from YouTube about their pending changes in which the monetization requirement from 10,000 lifetime views to a quota of 1000 subs + 4000 HOURS of watchtime in 12 months. youtube-creators.googleblog.co…

I have 4000 subs so I hit that checkmark, but only accrued about 2000 hours watchtime (that's still 86 DAYS of watchtime). I don't even make videos with the intent of making money since my revenue is still so small, but I will lose out on benefits like end screens and cards, features I use to improve my viewer's experience in finding other videos on my channel that might suit them. I am more concerned about their reasoning for this change as an effort to cut down on inappropriate content and protecting users from bots and "bad actors," but I recommend you read the article linked above to make your own assessment.

Update: YouTube has stated existing YPP members won't lose end screens and cards, but it still open for change in the future. support.google.com/youtube/ans…
